Dialysate consists of purified water Sodium Bicarbonate dissolved in it.

Their concentration closely resembles the concentration of the electrolytes occurring naturally in the blood. Dialysate regulates the electrolyte and Bicarbonate -base balance of the dialysis patient and removes waste products.
